Introducing the Blue Bay Shepherd

Vicki wanted to create a dog breed that combined the majestic wolf-like appearance with the trainable and cheerful nature typical of domestic dogs. She strived to produce sweet, friendly, and wolf-like dogs, ultimately creating a bloodline known as Southern Breeze with the aid of a blue-coated wolfdog named Sterling.

The integration of German Shepherds followed, aiming to merge wolf-like attributes while preserving the dogs' loving demeanour. Through meticulous selective breeding and careful analysis of potential pairings, Vicki sought to craft a breed that combined the best of both worlds: wolfdogs and German Shepherds.

In 2011, Vicki welcomed the first American Blue Bay Shepherd litter.

Over time, Vicki continued to refine the Blue Bay Shepherds, resulting in a large, wolf-like dog boasting a blue or slate grey coat, light-coloured eyes, and an athletic build. Vicki said:

"I wanted to develop this new breed because I wanted something myself that I couldn't find in any breed of dog. The beauty of the wolf can't be surpassed by any other breed, but looks alone have limitations. Wolfdogs had almost everything one could desire, except the timid nature necessary for wild survival, which doesn't serve well in the human world."

Authentic Blue Bay Shepherds are only available from Vicki's kennel in Palm Beach, Florida. She explicitly states on her website that no other breeders exist worldwide. If you see ads for this breed elsewhere, insist on a certificate signed by Vicki, the breeder, to ensure the dogs are genuine Blue Bay Shepherds.
