Visa problems
During their stopover at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Airport, Paula was informed that her tourist visa was cancelled as it did not meet the required criteria. Border control authorities booked Paula on the next available flight home the following day.
In the meantime, she was placed in a detention centre overnight, separated from her distressed dog, Maia, who had fallen ill during their journey, suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting. Delta Airlines assured Paula that they would take care of Maia until they would be reunited the next day.
Missing Maia
However, when Paula's flight departed as planned, her beloved pup was nowhere to be found. In a desperate attempt to locate Maia, Paula filed reports at multiple airports and sought help from local shelters, but the search yielded no results. Sadly, Maia hasn't been seen since.
Delta Airlines has since offered Paula $1,800 as a gesture of sympathy. However, the distraught woman's attorneys deemed this an "insult."
Paula has now turned to social media to raise awareness about Maia's disappearance, offering a reward for any information leading to her recovery. Her sister has also launched a GoFundMe campaign to fund an extensive search effort. Paula remains determined in her search for Maia, refusing to give up hope of reuniting with her cherished companion.
