A woman walks into a vet's office with a kebab tray. No, this isn't the start of some weird joke. Instead, it's exactly what happened at a vet clinic in France.
What's in the box?!?
The woman dropped the tray at the front desk and quickly ran out of the clinic. Staff were too shocked to pursue her, and were also worried about what was inside that box.
Staff pulled back the lid and found a tiny kitten curled up into a little ball. The miniature furbaby weighed less than 90 grams and looked no more than a few days old. She may even have been born that same day.
Vets fear she was snatched from her mother shortly after birth. The kitten is now receiving 24/7 care from specially trained veterinary nurses.
They're keeping their fingers crossed that this little thing pulls through, but she's got a tough fight ahead. Taking kittens away from their mother is really dangerous for a new cat's health.
Kittens receive essential antibodies from their mother's milk, which helps build their immune system and protects them against diseases. Removing a kitten from mum too early can leave them more susceptible to infections and illnesses. Kittens should stay with their mothers for at least eight to twelve weeks. During this time, the kittens receive vital nutrition, develop social skills, and benefit from their mother's care, setting them up for a healthier and well-adjusted life.
So angry!
Unsurprisingly, this story sent the cat-loving part of the internet into pure rage mode.
"I'm so angry," posted one person on the rescue shelter's Facebook page. "Who would do this? Who? I just can't understand treating something so pure with so much cruelty."
"I can't explain how upset and furious this story makes me feel," shared another. "That person needs to be identified and punished. I'm praying that this little one makes it."
