Each night when everyone in the house is sound asleep, someone or something breaks into this Reddit user's home and steals food. Who could it be?

What do you do when you discover food is disappearing every night from your kitchen? You ask the internet for advice, of course.

Mysterious food thief

That's what this man did after he discovered a mysterious thief was regularly breaking into his kitchen and stealing food.

The man's post attracted much interest from people keen to speculate over who or what the culprit could be.

Some people suggested it could be hungry ghosts up to no good; others suggested that perhaps it's animals.

But the man had no idea who or what was responsible, so he set up a camera in his kitchen, hoping to catch the thief red-handed. Or perhaps red-pawed.

Surprising discovery

When he discovered that food was missing one morning again, he decided to check the video footage. And when he did, he couldn't believe his eyes.

The security camera footage revealed a stray cat sneaking into the man's home through a ventilation shaft. It then ate everything in sight.

But when the man looked at footage from different nights, he realised to his astonishment, that it wasn't one cat breaking in, but three!

What naughty felines! Hopefully, the man has now closed up the ventilation shaft and put an end to the cat burglar antics.

    Funny, but a little sad.
I hope when this person sealed the vent he either started to feed these three cats.
Or maybe he got them the help they need - so they could give up their life of crime!
