The video has gone viral after viewers can’t get enough of watching this adorable yet unusual friendship.
David Nelson is a surf photographer who loves nothing more than taking his dog Moe to the beach with him for a game of fetch.
Surprising beach playmate
On this particular day, David and Moe were joined by a new playmate who seemed very keen to get involved in their ball games.
David threw a ball into the sea for Moe to fetch when a seal appeared in the water. But rather than chase the dog away, after all, seals are known to be aggressive; this seal was keen to play fetch too.
In the video filmed by David, you can see Moe and the seal happily bouncing through the waves chasing the ball. The seal would approach the shoreline as David throws the ball and then jump into the air, trying to get to the ball before Moe. But the dog gets to it first and brings it back to David.
Land puppy meet sea puppy
Although seals and dogs are not closely related, seals have the same pup charm and dog-like face as our canine companions. They also both belong to the suborder Califormia within the Carnivora order. Perhaps that’s why this seal was so keen to play with Moe.
