Tyson is a 6 year old large sized male of approx 46kg. He has been DNA tested by his previous family and is an American Bulldog X British Bulldog.
Tyson moved to a foster home in November 2025 where he settled in immediately. His fosterers have said ' He has welcomed all visitors with a very waggy tail and is always happy to meet new people. Although we were aware Tyson may show some guarding with long lasting treats we have not seen him do this while he has been with us. Tyson is walked on a double lead with one end attached to his collar and the other to his harness. We did try him on a head collar but he was not a fan of it. He is usually pretty good on the lead but he can be strong! Tyson is always happy to meet new people out and isn’t bothered by children. However, we have never seen Tyson around children other than those he has met outside. We have noticed some reactivity to other dogs whereby he will try to pull very hard towards them. Same goes for when he sees a cat/squirrel/other small furry! Tyson is regularly left alone for 1-2 hours a day and has gone as long as 4 hours on occasion by himself with no problems. He is definitely a big softy but he is sometimes unaware of how big he is. He has been great in the car. Tyson likes to be tucked into bed each night. Once we’re ready for bed, we tell him “bed time” and he trots off to his room (our spare room) where he lays down and waits to be tucked in with a blanket and his favourite teddies around him. Tyson is a gorgeous boy who thrives in a loving home. He likes all sorts of treats and mackerel, sometimes with his dinner. He’s on dry fish based food. He loves soft toys and squeaky toys (even better if the toy is both!) he also loves cuddles and affection. Dislikes include the hoover, the hair dryer and cats'.
Tyson has not lived with another dog before but has previously been around dogs of all sizes and did very well with them. In his previous home there was a decline around this and he started to show some dominant behaviours with other dogs. Ideally, Tyson would prefer a home by himself but could possibly live with another larger, submissive dog with meets beforehand.
Tyson's new home would ideally need to have experience with large, strong dogs and be able to manage his strength. Tyson shows some low level reactivity to other dogs and his new owners will either need experience to provide positive reinforcement training to overcome this or be committed to instruct a behaviourist.
Tyson will need to have someone around at least part of the day. Any alone time would need to be built up gradually in his new home and should not exceed 4 hours a day as he has previously suffered from separation anxiety.
Tyson has a strong prey drive so can not live with cats or small furries.
Tyson has not lived with children but has previously met various aged children from 5 to 15yrs with no problems. Because of his strength and his ability to forget his own size at times we believe Tyson would be best suited to live with older children; we can consider younger children depending on experience and situation.
Tyson is such a loving, cuddly boy who just needs his new family to be able to handle his physical strength when out, work with his low level reactivity and ensure his alone time is kept to a minimum. Other than that he is a pretty easy going boy who has loads of love to give and will give it in spades. He really needs to find his forever family now where he can spend the rest of his days in comfort knowing this is his last move of home
