Bruno is a 3yr old XL dog who is believed to be Weinamarer X Mastiff. Bruno stands approx 91 cm tall and weighs 70+ kg. He is microchipped, neutered and vaccinated. He has no known health problems.

Bruno moved into foster in  November 2023. His fosterer said 'Bruno settled in really well. He’s such a character! He talks to me when he needs the loo, he enjoys his walks around the fields. He beats me upstairs and jumps on the top of the bed and rests his head on my pillows! He really is the most beautiful dog! He’s had a play with other dogs and everything was fine! Best thing that ever happened to me'

In April 2024 his fosterer was struggling with their health which was deteriorating. Bruno was initially helping them rebuild their health but unfortunately it had taken a turn for the worse and they felt they were no longer able to walk him. Bruno was surrendered back to PPTF to find him another home. The foster subsequently decided to continue to foster him and then adopted him in April 2025.

However, less than 6 months later in September 2025, Bruno was on an off lead walk, running through some scrub/bush. His adopter thought he was going after a rabbit but unfortunately it was a man in his garden. The garden fence was down on the ground as it was rotten so Bruno was able to get into into the garden and he bit the man. His adopter followed Bruno into the garden and retrieved him, put his lead on and gave the man his details. Bruno had broken the man's skin and he had to go to hospital; he had several puncture wounds. Bruno was reported to the Police who felt his home would be unable to comply with their requirements of always be muzzled at all times in public and remain on the lead unless on secure private property. These Police requirements will remain in place for Bruno's entire lifetime. The Police agreed for Bruno to be signed back to PPTF to save him being PTS.

Bruno's fosterer said 'Bruno didn’t see many people when he was first with his me, just the odd farmer or walker and he was fine. He growled at a couple of men on occasion who were dressed in long coats or hats, also a man with long hair. He just doesn’t like some people, and doesnt like hi-viz jackets either. When we go out in the morning he loves to see the sheep and the cattle down the road, he's fine with both and he even lets them give him a lick! When he went into the village he was fine with everyone and wagged his tail. However since  my surgery he has become protective of me. Bruno loves cuddling and lots of belly rubs and massages. He also loves playing with indestructible toys and likes to play sniff the treats out. He loves going to the beach and running into the water and having a paddle. He is very much a one person dog in terms of bonding.'

Following the incident Bruno was taken to private boarding kennels and he has continued to reside there ever since. The kennels have said ' Bruno is a pretty chilled boy but he is dog reactive here. He is very good with food and treats and shows no agression around them. He is a big softie and a happy dog who wags his tail a lot, a really good boy who is always wandering about with his duck toy in his mouth'.

Bruno is an extremely large, heavy, strong dog, He pulls when he picks up a scent as he was living a rural life chasing rabbits etc. He needs someone who has experience of walking an extremely strong, extra large breed of dog on lead and has the physical strength to be able to do so. He must be walked on a muzzle at all times and must not be off lead at any point; a strong, long line should be used (not a retractable lead) unless on a secure private property where he is unable to escape.

Bruno needs a dog free home due to his owner needing all their strength and focus on keeping him safe and a pet free home as Bruno has a very strong prey drive. He is also unable to live with children.

Bruno has previously suffered from separation anxiety so will need someone around most of the time who could build up short periods of alone time very gradually; Bruno has never been left alone before. He can open doors if he gets left inside or the door shuts on him so his new home will need to be very vigilant around doors in the home to ensure he is unable to escape.

Bruno needs to be in a semi rural or rural location with lots of room due to his size and where there is ample  opportunity for long walks. This would also offer him a less densely populated area away from dogs and people.

Bruno is toilet trained but may need a quick refresher after being in kennels. He isn't crate trained as previously slept well in the home either on his owners bed or in his own bed.

He travels brilliantly in the car and has been fine on longer journeys.

So, Bruno is a huge, strong boy on lead but a big baby at home and just loves his duck teddy, cuddles and treats. He will make someone a wonderful companion who loves lots of excercise in a quiet location.

However, he also needs a very responsivle owner who will comit  to keeping him safe on walks as he MUST be muzzled at all times in public and remain on the lead unless on secure private property. These Police requirements will remain in place for Bruno's entire lifetime.
