Behaviour & Temperament Disclosure – Stark
Kennel Greeting:
Stark is a confident and enthusiastic boy when people enter his kennel. He loves attention and often greets staff with excitement, which can sometimes lead to puppy-mouthing behaviour. When he is calmer, he is very affectionate, enjoys sitting for cuddles, and shows a friendly, loving nature.
Bite / Growl History:
Stark has never bitten or growled at anyone.
Resource / Food Guarding:
No issues observed.
Equipment Acceptance:
Stark accepts both a slip lead and a harness.
Lead Behaviour:
Stark is still building confidence with lead walking. He is improving daily and will walk forward with encouragement. His adopter will need to continue this training, but he is a bright dog and expected to progress quickly.
Reactivity & Walk Behaviour:
Stark has met horses, goats, and birds during walks and has shown no reaction to them.
Children:
Stark met a 7 year old whilst in Romania and was friendly and playful. Due to his puppy-mouthing, he would be best suited to a dog-savvy home with children aged 12+. Child testing can be carried out if required.
Other Dogs:
Stark has lived around other dogs and gets on well with his kennel mates, though his playful and sometimes rough play style can be a bit much for quieter dogs.
He could benefit from living with a bigger, older dog who can help guide his behaviour, but he could also be the only dog in a home where he receives plenty of time, training, and stimulation.
Dog Compatibility:
He could share a home with another dog.
He has never growled at or bitten another dog.
Cats & Prey Drive:
Stark has not been around cats. No prey drive has been observed in kennels, but he would likely chase cats.
Kennel Behaviour:
He toilets in his kennel.
No destructive behaviour reported.
No signs of separation anxiety observed.
Time Left Alone:
He has been left from 7pm–9am without issues, although he can sometimes be awake playing during the night. With a consistent routine, he is settling better and continues to improve.
Travel:
Car travel is currently unknown.
Overall Summary:
Stark is a striking, affectionate, and playful young dog who will make a fantastic companion. He would thrive with an adopter who leads an active lifestyle and can continue guiding him through his youthful, energetic behaviours.
