Ollie is a medium/large sized male dog that came to the rescues knowledge in May 2021. He was rescued from a kill shelter and had a sponsor cover his kennel fees ensuring his safety. We do not know of his life prior to this but believe that he was born in 2016. Ollie is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered with no known health issues.
General behaviour:
Ollie can be a little shy when meeting new people, especially in his kennel, but once he feels comfortable he shows his true nature — a very sweet and affectionate boy. He has never growled, bitten, or shown any signs of resource or food guarding.
Handling & equipment:
Ollie accepts a harness and slip lead. He may be unsure while they’re being put on, but once out and about he’s absolutely fine. He walks nicely on lead but can become nervous around traffic and loud noises.
Social behaviour:
Ollie currently shares his kennel with Sarah, and the pair get along well. He has shown no issues with other dogs and has never growled or bitten another dog.
Children:
Ollie hasn’t been child-tested, but based on his nature, he is likely to be suitable for a home with older children or teenagers who can respect his initial shyness.
Other dogs in the home:
He could live as an only dog, but having a confident resident dog would be beneficial to help his confidence grow.
Cats:
Ollie was cat tested in Romania and has shown no negative behaviour towards other animals around the kennels.
Kennel behaviour:
Ollie toilets in his kennel but has not been destructive. He shows no signs of separation anxiety and copes well when left — he is routinely left in the barn from 7pm to 9pm and is always settled when checked on.
Travel:
His car travel experience is currently unknown.
Likes & personality:
Ollie is a genuinely lovely boy who adores affection once he trusts you. Though he may take a little time to warm up, he has all the makings of a wonderful, gentle companion in the right home.
