Severin and Nicole were driving through a small town in Croatia when their trip took an interesting turn. After parking outside a local supermarket to pick up some essential supplies, the pair were approached by a stray black kitten.
Starved for food and love!
They thought it was just looking for free food, which the pair were happy to hand out. But this lonely kitten wanted more than just a full belly. It also wanted love, safety, and a family.
After polishing off the food, the cat jumped onto Nicole's lap and nuzzled in her arms. Then she tucked herself into Nicole's jacket and started purring away contently like this was exactly where she belonged.
The message was pretty clear: I'm your cat now. You're my humans. So wherever you're going next, I'm coming with you.
Severin and Nicole spent the next two days visiting local vets and animal shelters to see if anyone had reported the kitten missing. When they realised no one was looking for her, the couple made it official - this was their fur baby now!
Molin hits the open road
The first thing she needed now was a name. Nicole decided on Molin, which means please in Croatian.
"She pleaded for our help. She was so hungry that she tried to eat the packaging on the food before we could open it," says Severin. "Then she fell asleep in Nicole's arms, where she felt comfortable and safe. There was no way we were going to leave her."
The newly formed family travelled to Albania next, where Molin explored the local sights with her new cat parents. Since then, the trio have visited eight more countries, and they're planning more trips for later this year.
Molin loves living the van life with her mum and dad. She never misses out on a city tour or beach day. Molin walks right beside her people wherever they go. And she hops up on Dad's shoulder whenever she gets tired. Sometimes, she just wants a better view of the road ahead!
