Last Thursday, La Bienvenida shelter in Ciudad Real took in two more 'tenants'. According to the volunteers on their Facebook page, they were two dogs. Someone had placed them in their facilities without giving many explanations and left.
A scene to which, unfortunately, shelters are accustomed. But what the carers did not imagine was that one of the dogs was pregnant. Such a surprise that the Mastiff dog was hiding and left the volunteers speechless as they hadn’t noticed it even though the two dogs had spent several days in the shelter.
What was wrong with the dog?
On february 8th, rescuers were met with a pleasant surprise when they arrived at the shelter: the dog had given birth!
Both she and her pups are doing well, although they spent the first night at the vet's as the shelter carers wanted to make sure everything was in order.
After the veterinary check-up, the dog and her three puppies are now back at the shelter. However, their carers are launching an SOS to find them a home where they can rest, be calm and receive the necessary care and love.
According to the people who are taking care of the dog, the mother is a loving and affectionate mastina and so are her three babies.
