Fans of Marie, Berlioz and Toulouse should be aware of this. According to Deadline, Disney is preparing a live-action remake of The Aristocats. After the adaptation of The Lion King (2019), Aladdin (2019) and Mulan (2019), Disney Studios will bring the cats of the beautiful districts of Paris to the screen.
A film made with real footage
This iconic movie, released in 1970, is said to be in the preliminary stages of development. Will Gluck ("Peter Rabbit", "Peter Rabbit 2" or "Annie") will be in charge of directing the movie and the script will be written by Keith Bunin ("Onward").
According to early indications, this childhood classic will be made with real footage. As with Beauty and the Tramp, released on the Disney+ platform, Duchess and her kittens will be played by real cats.
The Artistocats film removed from the Disney+ children's catalogue
When it was released in theaters, the film generated $191 million worldwide revenue. At the time, it was the biggest hit.
Recently, Disney decided to remove some films, including The Aristocats, from its children's catalogue because of racist clichés. A warning message is displayed when playing the movie from an "adult" profile.
