Having a dog is a big responsibility, one that not everyone is prepared to take on. This Great Pyrenees’ owners, for example, failed him terribly.

A few years ago, Big Fluffy Dog Rescue was contacted about a Great Pyrenees who was apparently being neglected by his owners.

When rescuers arrived on the scene, they were shocked to their very core.

Great Pyrenees living in terrible conditions

The poor dog was kept alone in a dark barn. His owners never interacted with him; they only visited him to give him food and water, that’s all. He was never brushed or cleaned. That had been the poor dog’s life for the past six years. He lived in his own filth and had a coat so matted that he could hardly move.

Rescuers immediately seized the dog and took him back to the shelter. There, they shaved 15 kilos of fur off of him!

A happy ending for a good boy

Though he was unrecognisable after his haircut, there was a long road ahead for the beautiful dog named Lazarus. Because he had been prevented from moving for so long, his muscles started wasting away. But after a lot of physical therapy, he was back on his feet in no time!

Lazarus then found a loving home where he could live out the rest of his days in peace and joy. It was everything he deserved!
