What was contained with the duffle bag discovered by a passer-by in June of this year stands as a shocking indictment of the cruelty of some humans. Read on to find out more.

A resident of Sharon - a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States – was on his way to the town beach when he spotted a bag floating on a nearby body of water. Local man Stephen Schumacher retrieved the bag and began a closer inspection of its contents.

To his horror he found a black cat stuffed into the bag in a poor way and soaked to the skin. Schumacher at once took the cat to Sand Road Animal Hospital in Falls Village to be checked over and then called the police.

Otherwise unharmed

The cat was thought to be around three years old. It was not chipped yet appeared to be otherwise unharmed. Schumacher took to Facebook to announce his find. He hopes the perpetrator of the deed will be brought to justice by the power of social media. Today, no-one has been charged with the act of cruelty but Schumacher lives in hope.

The cat is, thankfully, alive and well. It will soon be put up for adoption. The search for the cat’s previous owner continues.
