That's right, Musya is none other than a foster mum for baby hedgehogs!
The hoglets' mother unfortunately passed away in a lawn mower incident. The babies were left orphaned and helpless, but the local zoo offered to take them into their nursery.
Tragic death
Unfortunately, the babies refused to be bottle-fed. It was too strange for them. So the zookeepers had to come up with a better solution.
Musya's own kittens had just been weaned, but she still had milk left to give. Though no one knew whether it would work, it seemed like Musya was their best hope!
A replacement mum
And the result was incredible: the hoglets went straight to Musya’s teats for milk. Musya took to the babies as if they were her own, letting them drink from her teat without any problem, and letting them groom her and climb all over her with the patience of a saint!
Thanks to her incredible devotion, the little hoglets survived and grew up to be healthy and strong!
