When Scott White woke up in the middle of the night to find his kitty pacing around the bed, he assumed the little guy wanted a midnight stroke.
But when Joey the cat jumped on his owner's chest, Scott knew that something was wrong.
A helping paw
And after Scott followed Joey downstairs, he quickly realised that his furry friend had just saved his life. Because someone had left a pot on the stove before going to bed and it was minutes away from bursting into a full-blown fire!
Scott was impressed by Joey's alertness, although he had a few questions for another furry family member - a 10-month-old puppy who slept through the entire incident!
Speaking to the Huffington Post, Scott said:
"I guess we found out the real hero is the cat."

Joey the hero cat now has his very own Instagram page with over 1k followers. His dog brother is still waiting for his account, although he does feature in many of Joey's posts.
And as you'll see, it looks like this pooch hasn't come to terms with being upstaged by his feline sibling!
