Sometimes, senior dogs are said to be impatient and even snappy. But we believe they are actually more understanding than young dogs. Just watch this adorable clip and you’ll see.

Too often, pet owners decide to abandon their cat or dog when they know that a child is on the way.

They don't want to have to deal with the introductions, fear that things will go south, and prefer to separate themselves from the family pet just to be on the safe side.

Children's best friend

Yet, dogs and children can share a very special relationship – especially when the child grows alongside his canine pal! And when the dog is older, all the better: they are calmer, better trained, and more experienced in life. Depending on their personality, they may even be more patient with children than a younger dog!

The softest pillow

This is certainly the case in this beautiful video. A baby is playing alongside his senior canine pal, when suddenly, fatigue hits. The baby's eyes start to close, and the child starts to sway back and forth, as if he's about to fall into a deep sleep. The dog licks the baby's face, trying to keep him awake, but to no avail.

Suddenly, the baby falls forward – but the landing is soft. He lies right on top of his dog's belly and starts to dream profoundly. The dog doesn't seem bothered by this one bit – in fact, he lies his head down for his nap too!

Translated from Wamiz ES

We urge Wamiz readers to always be cautious when letting a pet play with a child. No matter how sweet pets can be, they may sometimes feel uncomfortable with a child's rough play and children can’t always pick up on that. Better safe than sorry, always supervise interactions between a child and an animal!
