In Canada, the charity "Chatons Orphelins Montréal" stepped in to help more than 30 cats.
These cats had been living in dreadful conditions in a squalid house. Among those rescued was a mother cat named Lizzie and her six tiny kittens.
The mum was so thin she wasn't producing enough milk to feed her litter. In fact, the smallest kitten, named Bliss, weighed barely 21 ounces. She couldn't feed herself and her eyes were cloudy.
A difficult start
The kitten was rushed to the vet, and her foster family watched over her day and night. "She wouldn't be alive without the support of her foster family and all the care she received," said the charity.
Forever a kitten
At five months old, Bliss was still the size of a two-month-old kitten. Her adult teeth hadn't even come through yet. At six months, she weighed just under two pounds, a weight she is expected to maintain for the rest of her life.
As reported by The Dodo, Bliss will remain a kitten forever. She is now looking for a quiet and loving home that can offer her the very best.
