Man steals three-month-old kitten then uses her to rob a bank

By Ludivine Mazzotti

On 13 July, a tiny kitten named Magnolia went through the most terrifying ordeal of her life in Maryland, USA.

Magnolia is a sweet little kitten who is only three months old.

A man walked into a pet shop inside a shopping centre, where he had been spotted several times over the previous few weeks.

Suspicious behaviour

Staff at the pet shop had noticed that the man seemed very keen on Magnolia. On 13 July, he grabbed the kitten and ran out of the shop at full speed. Moments later, he headed straight for a bank located in the very same shopping centre.

Once inside, he attempted a robbery, using poor Magnolia as a "weapon". He actually asked the bank staff to hold the kitten while he wrote a note. He then handed the slip to an employee to demand cash, brandishing Magnolia during the bizarre heist.

A happy ending

However, things did not go quite as the suspect had planned. The robbery attempt failed quickly, and the police arrived on the scene in no time. The man was arrested, and thankfully, nobody was hurt.

Meanwhile, Magnolia was found safe and sound in the bank manager’s office. CCTV footage confirmed that the suspect had run out of the pet shop with the kitten in his arms before heading straight to the bank.

The charity Beltsville Community Cats, who are looking after Magnolia, were so relieved to get the brave little kitten back. After this unbelievable ordeal, rescuers are hoping that her next journey won't lead to a bank, but to a loving home where she can grow up in peace at last!

Safe and sound
