While Sara was involved in the rescue of a stray mother cat and her kittens, she noticed a curious little visitor.
A tomcat was standing nearby, watching the rescuers from a distance.
A protective tomcat
Sara immediately suspected that the cat was the protector of the mother cat and her kittens. The tomcat was quite large, and with her experience in rescuing street cats, Sara knew that such an independent cat wouldn't necessarily want to approach the rescuers.
However, thanks to Sara's patience and skill, the tomcat eventually agreed to come closer. To the rescuer's great surprise, he even allowed her to pet him. It turned out the cat was actually very affectionate! It was clear that he deserved to be rescued too, and to enjoy a warm, cosy home.
A change of plan
Sara changed her plans and ended up rescuing the tomcat instead of the family she had originally intended to save. Afterwards, another rescuer, Erika, decided to open her home to him. She named him Sirloin and began to teach him the ways of an indoor cat, including how to use a litter tray.
Sirloin understood immediately. It only took the tomcat a week to get used to life in a house! He is now thriving in his new life and loves being around people. For the rescuers, Sirloin is proof of a successful rescue, and they are delighted that he has been given a second chance at life!
