Alexandra runs an animal rescue called McQueens Rescues, based in Crete, Greece.
Recently, four cats from the shelter were adopted. However, their new families lived in Athens.
A stressful journey
As Crete is an island, the cats had no choice but to fly to the mainland. Alexandra arranged their transport and travelled with them. As the plane landed in Athens, she was looking out of the window, waiting to disembark.
It was then that she saw something that moved her deeply. She took out her phone and started filming. A baggage handler was unloading the passengers' luggage onto the tarmac.
A touching moment
When it was the turn of the four cat carriers, the handler acted with the utmost gentleness. He waited for the carriers to reach him before lifting them delicately and speaking kindly to the cats inside. He even slipped his hand through the bars to stroke them. Given that travelling in the hold can be extremely stressful for our pets, this affectionate gesture would have been a great comfort to the cats.
In the video's caption, Alexandra wrote: ”Thank you for choosing kindness”. Many viewers asked who this extraordinary employee was, wanting to thank him for his actions. The incredibly gentle scene moved us all deeply.
