The couple had always much preferred dogs, and often described themselves as "dog people".
A change of heart
But that all changed the day Fiona witnessed a terrible accident. She saw a grey cat get hit by a car, a moment she describes as one of the most traumatic of her life. She immediately rushed over to the cat, scooped him up in her arms, and hurried him to the nearest veterinary clinic.
The poor cat was in a great deal of pain. Sadly, after the veterinary team examined him, they gave him medication to ease his suffering. They told Fiona that they would likely have to put him to sleep. Fiona was devastated...
A little miracle
However, a few days later, Fiona received a phone call that changed everything! The grey cat had fought bravely to get his strength back. He was back on his feet, and the vets said Fiona could come and collect him. The cat didn't belong to anyone and hadn't been claimed, so the young woman was over the moon. She'd had a complete change of heart and no longer saw herself as a "dog person": she wanted to adopt the tomcat!
Fiona introduced the cat to her dog, and just three days later, they were already napping side by side! Fiona's partner also fell in love with the tomcat instantly, and he's even the one who brings him into their bed to sleep. The cat's life, along with Fiona's and her family's, has completely changed, and they couldn't be happier in their cosy home now!
