A little ginger kitten was wandering in the park. Just as his owners were about to continue their walk, the dog took an immediate interest in the tiny feline and refused to leave without him.
His family realised from the Bernese Mountain Dog's protective attitude that he had no intention of abandoning the stray kitten...
A deep bond
So, the family took the kitten in to keep him safe. They weren't sure yet if he would be staying for good, but Duncan seemed to have already made his decision...
Despite their huge size difference, the dog was incredibly gentle with his new companion. He was like an affectionate and protective big brother. The pair quickly became inseparable, as you can see in the video below.
Melting hearts online
On Instagram, users instantly fell in love with this beautiful friendship. As far as they were concerned, the kitten was no longer a stray, but Duncan's very own cat. Many joked that the family no longer had a say in the matter, since the dog had already decided to adopt him!
Some even tried to convince the family to adopt the kitten by suggesting names for him, with ”Donut” proving to be a huge hit. This dog's kindness and big heart towards the kitten was truly touching. One thing is for sure: the two will be best friends for life!
