Jacqueline and her husband live on a farm in Kansas, USA, with their animals.

On the 15th of December, they put up their Christmas tree in the living room and decorated it.

Later that evening, they settled down on the sofa to relax with the tree lights twinkling.

A perfect evening

Their cat came and settled at the foot of the tree, making for a perfectly peaceful evening. In the video below, a black and white cat can be seen lying contentedly in front of the twinkling Christmas tree. Suddenly, Jacqueline is heard bursting into laughter. The video's caption reveals the reason for her amusement: "We just noticed the cat in front of the Christmas tree is not our cat." She added in the comments: "How did he get in?"

It turned out to be the neighbour's cat! The couple had noticed the cat loves coming into their garden to play with their dogs. His name is Socks, but Jacqueline and her husband call him Spotface.

The reason it took them so long to realise the neighbour's cat was making himself at home in their living room is that they have two cats of their own: Ollie and Archer. Archer also happens to be a black and white cat who looks remarkably similar to Socks.

A hilarious mix-up

Viewers were in stitches over the video, and it has to be said, Jacqueline's laughter is incredibly infectious! One user joked about what the cat must have been thinking: "Blend in, act normal, and maybe no one will notice."

Others suggested that Jacqueline and her husband had a new addition to the family:

"I guess you have a new cat."

However, Jacqueline explained that the tomcat has his own family and just loves to pop over for a visit to spend time with their dogs, Ollie, and Archer. It was certainly a night to remember!
