A shocking find

As she got closer, she saw a tiny paw trying to push its way out of the box. Inside were six kittens, between four and six weeks old, desperately trying to survive.

Next to it was another box, also destined for the crusher. This one had no holes to let any air in.

It turned out to be the box for the mother cat, who had managed to escape. Thankfully, she was found hiding under a bush not far from her little ones.

A call for justice

Rescuers from the local charity, Les Poilus du 33, were quickly on the scene to take the family into their care. The charity plans to press charges for animal cruelty.

The rescuers hope that CCTV cameras near the recycling area will help identify the culprits. They have also set up an online fundraiser to help cover the costs of caring for the kittens and their mother.

The entire little family was then able to recover and regain their strength in a foster home.
