In California, USA, a woman visiting a rescue centre came face to face with a Corgi, the breed made famous by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
At the time, Maria couldn't understand how such a dog could have ended up in a shelter. In an Instagram post on 4th December, she wrote that she was baffled to see a purebred dog in a rescue. Thankfully, the Corgi has since been adopted.
A viral reaction
Within five days, the post had racked up over 215,000 views and more than 10,000 likes. Just like Maria, social media users were perplexed to see this particular breed in a rescue centre.
“He looks so gentle”
“This breed doesn't belong in a shelter! They are too special!” one user wrote.
“It breaks my heart… Corgis are the sweetest, most intelligent dogs. He looks so gentle,” commented another.
