An animal welfare charity in Lancashire was alerted to two distressing incidents after dogs were found tied up and left outside in the freezing cold.

Homeward Bound shared images of both dogs and confirmed the call-outs happened late last night.

The first report involved a dog discovered tethered to a lamppost in the FY3 area.

Late-night call-outs

A spokesperson said the situation unfolded after a disagreement, with one partner allegedly taking the dog and leaving it tied up.

The owner returned moments before volunteers arrived, but the charity is still seeking information due to concerns over the animal’s well-being.

Hairless and shivering

Shortly afterwards, another call came in about a Frenchie type dog left down a lane, tied to a fence with a bowl of food and water beside them.

Volunteer David attended and found the dog freezing and almost entirely hairless. The dog was taken into the charity’s care on welfare grounds and is now safe.

Homeward Bound is urging anyone with information about either dog to contact their duty phone in confidence on 07542678826.
