Her rescue team had received a report from a concerned driver.
A well-hidden shape
The driver had spotted a dog living in the pile of rubbish, dangerously close to fast-moving traffic.
Donna slowed down as she reached the rubbish heap, scanning the items for any sign of life. For the first few seconds, she saw nothing and feared the dog had run off. Suddenly, a black and white dog lying amongst the pile of debris lifted its head and met her gaze.
The gentle dog seemed grateful to finally be getting some help. Its tail began to wag in anticipation as Donna approached.
An adorable dog
The dog, later named Gibson, didn't eat the treat the rescuer offered him, but he did let her pet him!
Donna was then able to slip a lead around his neck and gently guide him out of the rubbish pile.
The team then took Gibson to the veterinary hospital, cuddling him all the way.
Gibson underwent a full medical examination at the veterinary clinic before having a well-deserved bath.
The team quickly cleared him for foster care. Just a few days after his rescue, Gibson went to his temporary home.
Michelle Schefner and her family were delighted to welcome him into their home. The adorable dog quickly settled into their routine and has been thriving in their care ever since!
