But nothing went as planned.
On 8th November, Jessica shared photos of the little puppy's growth.
A tiny puppy
Whilst the first photos show that Winston is indeed tiny, it quickly becomes clear as you scroll through the pictures that the puppy has grown considerably. In fact, he's not a Miniature Dachshund at all!
Winston far exceeds the average weight of a Miniature Dachshund, weighing in at a whopping 40 pounds! Jessica later learnt from the breeder that Winston's mother was a Miniature Dachshund and his father a standard Dachshund. This changes absolutely nothing about the fact that Winston is utterly adorable and he's thriving in his family.
Completely smitten
Internet users were absolutely captivated by the dog's appearance. Comments included: "He's a magnificent dog!" And: "I'd forgotten just how big standard-sized Dachshunds can be! I don't understand why we don't see more of them! They're magnificent!"
Jessica was keen to reassure people that she takes great care of the dog's spine. She makes sure not to carry him as she did when he was a puppy, and nowadays Winston is no longer allowed to climb stairs or jump on furniture. One thing's for certain: Winston is an absolute sweetheart!
