On Wednesday 1st October, a man made a terrible discovery in Héron Park in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, northern France.

The man had decided to bury his cat in the park.

Indeed, within 48 hours of the animal's death, the body must be handed over to a vet. The animal must then be cremated or placed in a pet cemetery.

The man who was about to bury his cat was therefore breaking the law. But that wasn't all, the worst was yet to come...

A staggering discovery

Whilst he was digging to bury his cat in the park, the man discovered a human skull. He immediately contacted the police to report his macabre find.

At present, the criminal investigation department has taken over the case. The priority now is to analyse the remains to determine how old they are. Watch this space.
