Dachshund returns from the vet and finds an unexpected intruder in his crate

Returning from the vet after an operation, Linky didn't expect to find a surprise guest settled in his crate. His housemate… wasn't at all who you'd expect.

Linky, a long-haired miniature Dachshund, had just come back from a post-operative check-up when the scene unfolded. His family, who regularly share his adventures on TikTok (@lincolnshiresausagedog), captured the moment. The dog calmly approached his crate… only to find Archie, the household's ginger tabby cat, comfortably stretched out inside.

Rather than protest, Linky came closer, exchanged a few sniffs and friendly paw taps with his feline companion. It was a sweet moment that quickly won over viewers.

A friendship that defies stereotypes

In the video, the caption sums up the situation: "You leave your crate for a vet appointment…" In the comments, his owner explained that Linky's operation went well. The scar is healing properly, he can go on short walks again, and he no longer needs to rest quite so often. An opportunity that Archie seems to have seized to claim the most comfortable spot in the house.

This kind of scene contradicts the common belief that cats and dogs can't get along. Animal behaviourists explain that these cross-species friendships are common when animals grow up together. Familiarity, shared experiences, and a lack of competition encourage strong bonds to form.

For Linky and Archie, harmony is already well established. The "stolen" crate is just one example amongst many of their peaceful cohabitation. And judging by the Dachshund's relaxed expression, this sharing of territory doesn't seem to be a problem in the slightest.
