Flash, who marked his ninth birthday in June, spent 1,116 days in the charity’s care before being adopted by Christopher and Aaron from Gateshead.
The couple first spotted the Lurcher on a local TV news segment and could not understand why he had been overlooked for so long.
A loving family at last
“We had to meet him, and once we did, we knew he was the boy for us,” said Christopher. “He made himself at home from day one and hasn’t looked back. He loves cuddles and has quickly become part of the family.”
Flash has also helped the couple cope with the loss of their previous dog, and they praised the dedication of the Dogs Trust team. “The support we received has been incredible. You could tell how loved he was during his time in kennels,” Christopher added.
Landed on his paws at last
Flash had been highlighted as one of the centre’s “Underdogs,” a campaign for dogs waiting longer than six months to be rehomed. Staff say they are thrilled he has now “landed on his paws.”
Dogs Trust Darlington remains open to visitors five days a week.
