Erin will always remember the day she welcomed the tiniest cat she'd ever seen into her home.
At 8 weeks old, the kitten fitted in the palm of her hand. She was barely the size of a 3-week-old kitten.
A tiny size
The kitten was named Mouse because of her minuscule size. Due to her small frame, many people didn't think she would survive. But Erin was determined to give Mouse every chance at survival and a good life.
Around the same time Erin was caring for Mouse, she also took in another cat named Coraline. Like Mouse, Coraline needed special care. Her eyes had ruptured and had to be surgically removed. Whilst the operation was a frightening experience for Coraline, the little cat remained curious and resilient.
A beautiful relationship
As Mouse grew and Coraline learnt to navigate without sight, the two kittens formed a beautiful friendship. Mouse made it her mission to guide Coraline around the house to help her feel comfortable. In no time, thanks to her friend's help, Coraline was running everywhere, climbing stairs and jumping onto high surfaces with ease.
It was a mutually beneficial relationship. By helping Coraline, Mouse also gained confidence in herself. Erin was so touched by the special bond between Mouse and Coraline that she decided to adopt them both. Now, the two cats are living happily in their forever home and are absolutely inseparable!
