At the end of September, his owner Steve Lamplough heard his three pooches barking in the garden.
Curious to know what was going on, he went outside to investigate.
A tiny intruder
That's when he was stunned to discover Denni carrying a baby koala on his back! The adorable creature had wrapped its tiny furry paws around the Golden Retriever's neck.
For Steve, the scene was absolutely hilarious, especially when Denni started running around the garden. It looked like the baby koala was a little jockey on his back! The koala stayed comfortably nestled in Denni's fur. The Golden Retriever didn't complain and seemed to be smiling. He clearly enjoyed the little marsupial's company!
Reuniting with family
Even though the scene was adorable, Steve knew he had to return the baby koala to its mother. He gently lifted the baby koala from his back. Steve understood why marsupials are attracted to his garden. He has a flowering ash tree at the bottom of the garden whose blossoms attract koalas!
After placing the little koala back in the tree, Steve waited a few minutes before returning. He saw that the little one was already cuddling with its mother. Nobody knows how the baby koala managed to climb onto Denni's back, but one thing is certain. Both parties enjoyed this adventure!
