When people imagine their four-legged friend guarding their home, it's usually a German Shepherd or a Mastiff that comes to mind.
But fearless feline Fern has shown everyone how it's done, standing up to an animal over 5 times her size.
The best guard cat
From the comfort of her scratch post resting spot, Fern notices the deer grazing outside.
She's immediately alert, changing position to get a better look. The deer peers back, stomping in an attempt to diffuse the situation.
"Oh, she's mad!" her owner explains, as Fern faces up to the animal through the glass.
"No trespassers here"
"Not a fan of deer apparently" explained her owner, as she shared the clip to Instagram.
The video, which has now been viewed 13,000 times, had cat lovers in awe of the tabby's reaction.
"Fern says "you lucky this glass between us" joked a viewer. "Such a brave kitty!" agreed another.
