Sometime in 2024, a tortoiseshell cat turned up in someone's garden. As reported by LoveMeow, she was a familiar face in the neighbourhood, belonging to a small colony of local cats.
Help from a rescue
The homeowner soon realised that the cat was, in fact, a female and was about to have kittens.
She was quickly taken to a safe place. The Stray Cat Club, a local charity, came to her rescue, offering her the perfect spot to have her kittens.
Named Ruby, the mum-to-be quickly settled into her new surroundings. A few days later, she began to rearrange her little nest, preparing for the arrival of her kittens.
Meanwhile, another charity, the Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre, reached out to the Stray Cat Club for a helping hand.
Seven kittens to feed
They hoped Ruby might be able to nurse some kittens who had found themselves without a mum. And sure enough, Ruby welcomed the new little mouths to feed. She cleaned them, let them suckle alongside her own kittens, and showered them all with love and purrs.
In total, the new mum was now caring for seven kittens. With help from the rescue centres, the kittens grew by leaps and bounds. Topaz, Opal, Onyx, Emerald, Jade, Pearl and Diamond have blossomed into adorable, slightly mischievous young cats and will soon be looking for their forever homes.
