The cat was lying down and completely still.
He seemed to be patiently waiting for someone, or something.
A gentle plea for help
A volunteer from Southern Arizona Cat Rescue (SACR) went to the shopping centre to rescue the tomcat. As she approached him, she gently held out her hand. The cat immediately made his intentions clear, resting his head in the rescuer's hand as a silent plea for help.
The stray cat was very cooperative. The volunteer was able to pick him up and place him in a carrier to take him to the rescue centre. Named Bartholomew (or Bart for short), he was given a good bath before being examined by a vet. He was neutered and treated for a wound behind his ear. The check-up also revealed that Bart was diabetic and needed extensive dental work.
A fresh start
The tomcat was placed in a foster home to recover. Bart took all his treatments in his stride, purring non-stop. After dental surgery, Bart was left with no teeth, but he was finally free from pain.
He blossomed into a confident, chatty, and affectionate cat and started to gain weight. It wasn't long before he was spotted by his forever family! His new owner is a nurse and understood his medical needs. Now, Bart is enjoying his cosy new home, looking after his human just as much as she looks after him!
