Thirty-hour search for missing cat ends with a shocking discovery

By Ludivine Mazzotti

Melissa and Ed Kirby live in Massachusetts, USA.

The couple went through every pet owner's worst nightmare when their adorable white cat, Fluffy, suddenly vanished.

It all started when the couple had a new bathtub installed in their bathroom. Just a few hours later, they realised their beloved cat was gone...

After searching all his favourite spots in the house, Melissa and Ed assumed he had slipped out the front door. But after 24 hours, Fluffy still hadn't come home. They put up posters all over the neighbourhood to try and find him. They even called in a specialist pet detective.

The couple was distraught over Fluffy's disappearance. Melissa was crying her eyes out when she suddenly heard a faint meow. At first, she thought she was imagining it, but she listened carefully and traced the sound... to underneath the brand-new bathtub. Sure enough, when she looked closer, she spotted a tiny paw sticking out of a gap left around the pipes!

An unlikely hiding place

In a panic, Ed immediately called an emergency plumber, explaining that their cat was stuck under the bath. In the end, the plumber wasn't needed. Once he'd been found, Fluffy managed to pull himself out of his hiding spot using his front paws.

Amazingly, the cat was completely unharmed despite being stuck under the bath for more than 30 hours. Melissa and Ed were so relieved!

To prevent anything like this from happening again, they've now fitted Fluffy with an AirTag. This way, they can quickly locate him if he ever goes missing or gets stuck in another unusual hiding place!
