Buyer thinks he is visiting an empty house, but discovers a year-long secret inside

By Ludivine Mazzotti•

About a year ago, a resident of Macon County in Georgia, USA, was evicted from his home.

For months, the house stood completely abandoned.

Then, a new owner bought the property at the end of September and discovered a situation that no one could have ever expected...

Appalling living conditions

There were piles of rubbish and filth accumulated throughout the property. But that was not all. Around ten cats and kittens were living in the house, completely left to fend for themselves. The felines had survived alone all this time. However, with no care or proper food, the poor things were suffering from malnutrition, skin infections and various other illnesses.

Rescuers from the True Rescue shelter stepped in to save the cats. Once on the scene, they were horrified by the squalid conditions inside the house. In the video below, they explained that although they had dealt with difficult cases before, this one surpassed anything they had ever seen in the past...

Setting humane traps

To get the cats safely out, rescuers set up several humane traps inside the house and in the garden. So far, they have managed to rescue eight adult cats and two kittens, but there are still about ten more cats left to save.

The cats brought back to the shelter have been examined. They will need to be kept in isolation for a month, as they are carrying a contagious disease. However, rescuers are quite confident that they are well on the road to recovery!

Once they are fully recovered, they will go to foster homes before looking for their forever families. The rescue team hopes to catch the remaining cats as soon as possible and remains fully determined to complete their mission. We wish them the best of luck and send all our love to these lovely cats.
