"She thought he was dead... Here she finds out he isn't," explained rescue group @threelittlepitties on Instagram, as they shared a heartwarming clip of the little girl meeting her new friend.
Scratchy had been placed on the shelter's euthanasia list - but this compassionate little girl and her mother had already fallen deeply in love.
Searching for Scratchy
Fearing the white puppy may not have made it, the little girl asked about Scratchy every day.
"Scratchy’s foster mom went on a wild goose chase trying to figure out what happened to him after she saw a facebook post about him being at the shelter and at risk. She wanted to help, but had no idea if she was too late," shared the rescue team.
Thankfully, they had already stepped in to save Scratchy, and were delighted when Michelle offered to foster him.
Deeply in love
Michelle kindly brought Scratchy home, settling him in before telling her daughter the good news.
"In this video, her daughter comes home from school and finds that Scratchy is ALIVE and their new foster dog. Pure, deep, love at first sight. A little girl who worried and cared so deeply all week about a little mangy dog. And her sense of relief getting to hold him."
