Just three hours after arriving, Maggie went into labour. “It was almost like she waited until she was safe,” Alteri said.
The kittens came fast and didn’t stop. By the time Alteri went to bed, the exhausted cat had delivered seven tiny bundles.

Big surprise
But the real surprise came the next morning.
“I got up to go check on her,” Alteri said. “It was like Christmas morning… and there were two more.” That brought the total to nine, far more than the average litter of three to six.
Despite the odds, Maggie proved to be an extraordinary mother, showering each kitten with love and care. Alteri and the team named the litter after country music legends in honour of their Nashville roots.
Super mum!
Each kitten eventually found a home and so did Maggie, who now enjoys a peaceful life in her forever home.
“She worked so hard,” said Alteri. “She deserves all the love in the world.”
Well done, Maggie, what an amazing cat mum you are!
