If you're lucky enough to share your home with a cat, you'll know it can be tricky to decipher their behaviour, especially if they tend to be a bit aloof.
To help you understand your feline friend, veterinarian Sarah Wooten shared six signs with the website Cats that show your cat truly loves you.
Signs of trust and affection
1. Sitting on your lap
If your cat is cuddly and likes to spend a lot of time on your lap, it's a clear sign of affection and trust.
2. The slow blink
You'll need to be observant for this one. A cat's slow blinks are a way of expressing peace and affection.
3. Bringing you gifts
If your cat often brings you little gifts, like mice, it's a good sign. "Even though we humans might find it rather disgusting, for your cat, it's a token of love and devotion," explains the vet. But don't worry, it's not always dead animals; a cat might also bring you inanimate objects they've collected.

4. Kneading
Blankets, pillows, duvets... who hasn't seen their cat "kneading" soft fabrics? You should know that this is an instinctive reflex. If your cat kneads in your presence, it's a sign of love and connection.
5. Rubbing against you
"Cats often tend to rub their paws, face, or tail against people they love and consider their property," explains the vet.
6. Purring
A cat's purr can mean many things. It can be related to pain and illness, but it's most often a sign of happiness and contentment.
