In a now-viral TikTok video posted by @ellielunaandcoal, the fluffy tabby is seen crouched directly under an automatic hand sanitiser dispenser, an area she likely thought was a safe haven.
As Ellie attempted to remain invisible, the motion sensor in the dispenser sprang to life, releasing a stream of sanitiser directly onto her head and back.
An accidental sanitising session
Despite the repeated spritzes, the stubborn feline refused to budge, forcing vets to intervene and give her a proper rinse.
The clip, which has racked up over 1.4 million views and 229,000 likes, sparked a flurry of amused comments. One user quipped, “Cat: ‘That was weird. Hope it doesn’t happen again… Oh, it did!’” Another wrote, “She looked personally offended.”
Lesson learned, for humans, at least
While Ellie may not have learned her lesson, viewers certainly did: always check above your cat’s chosen hiding spot. Especially when visiting the vet.
