A local resident had contacted them after hearing kittens meowing in a car park.
He had arrived at work very early that morning and noticed strange noises coming from the bushes.
Kittens in need
He was right to raise the alarm. When officers arrived at the scene, they found several cages hidden in the bushes, each one filled with kittens. In total, 16 kittens were rescued.
The kittens range in age from just a few weeks to several months old. Many are suffering from severe respiratory issues and eye infections and are now receiving veterinary treatment.
A better future
The kittens have been placed in quarantine. While one kitten may lose an eye, all are expected to survive. Once they have recovered, they will be available for adoption. For now, the priority is their health and well-being.
The city pound has called on residents for support, requesting cash donations to cover medical expenses, food, bleach to clean the cages, and cat litter. Residents have shown strong support and are rallying to assist. Additionally, the police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for this cruel abandonment.
