While she is a much-loved cat now, Bobby’s journey hasn’t always been smooth.
Six years ago, the tortoiseshell cat was surrendered to a local rescue shelter after her previous owner brought home two small dogs. Bobby didn’t get on with the new pups.
New start and a new name!
Back then, she was known as Bubbles, and she suddenly needed a new, loving family. Fortunately, she didn’t have to wait long.
When we visited the shelter, Bobby was initially a little timid. But with gentle strokes and attention, she quickly warmed up to us. We learned that she had once had a litter of kittens before being neutered and that she wasn’t much of an outdoor explorer, preferring only a couple of hours outside each day.
Naming her was an adventure in itself. Our five-year-old son was determined to have a cat named Bob, though no one knows why! Upon realising we were adopting a female cat, he happily settled on Bobby instead.
Since then, Bobby has become a cherished part of our family, thriving as a house cat. A mild heart murmur, discovered by the vet a year or two after adoption, has never slowed her down.
Life with Bobby
She remains in great health, spending her days doing what she loves most – sleeping, playing with her favourite human (my son), and indulging in her absolute favourite treat: ham. If she had her way, she’d eat it all day!
Not only is Bobby a beloved member of our family, but she also has another rather important role: supervising all my Wamiz articles. Whether she’s perched nearby with an air of quiet authority or strolling across the keyboard at just the right moment, Bobby ensures every word meets her high feline standards.
As we celebrate Bobby’s 11th birthday, we couldn’t be happier to have her in our lives.
Happy Birthday, Bobby!
