Dog walker in shock after making "abhorrent" discovery in Belfast

A dog walker in Belfast has issued an urgent warning to pet owners on Facebook, after he made a terrifying discovery on his daily walk. 

"Be vigilant!", urges the owner as he shared a picture of his find to Facebook.

Viewers were horrified to see meatballs covered in metal tacks, clearly intended for passing animals.

The "abhorrent attempt"

The "abhorrent" attempt to harm dogs and other animals was made in Malone Park in Belfast, where the man regularly takes his four-legged friend for a walk.

If ingested, the meatballs could have proved fatal. 

Thankfully, they were discovered just in time, but the authorities have yet to find anyone connected to the incident.

"Pure evil"

"The person who did this is very dangerous and pure evil", wrote a viewer on Facebook. "I hope they are caught. It's not just dogs but cats and other wild animals that could be injured, or a child picking one up"

"The cruelty of some people is disgusting", agreed another. 

The image was shared by Lost Paws NI - Lost and Found Pets, who advised owners to be extra vigilant when out walking. 

"Please be extra vigilant of anything on the ground that they could eat and could harm them", they warned.
