In a heartbreaking act of animal cruelty, 3-year-old Chihuahua Raven was harmed by the person who was meant to love him the most.
On the 8th of September, agents at Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida were called in, following a vet report that a dog had been injured by his owner.
Thrown off a balcony
The poor pup had been thrown from a balcony onto the ground below, resulting in both a fractured jaw and paw.
He was taken to the vet by his owner's friend, who stated that the dog had been deliberately thrown by his owner.
The authorities immediately arrested Dalton Chad Sousa, who was taken into police custody. But the 30-year-old claimed the dog had actually been harmed by his friend, who had then taken him into the vet for treatment.
Justice for Raven
The police had serious doubts over this version of events, and Sousa was charged with animal cruelty. Much to the shock of the authorities, he seemed to show little remorse over his actions, staring straight into the camera on the day he was arrested.
Thankfully, Raven is recovering well from his injuries, and is expected to make a full recovery.
Sousa, on the other hand, has now been fined 5,000 dollars for animal cruelty.
