A resident of Głuchołazy in Poland was scanning the rising floodwaters when they noticed, to their horror, something trapped in the middle of the stream.

At first, it was hard to make out, but then the heartbreaking reality set in – it was a stranded German Shepherd clinging desperately to a concrete block with no way to escape.

The dramatic scene quickly gained attention online as the helpless dog fought for survival, as it was cut off from dry land for hours.

Rescue mission

Local resident Mr Robert, after noticing the dog's peril, bravely stepped in to attempt a rescue. He managed to reach the dog and free it from the dangerous waters.

However, the relief was short-lived. According to the Facebook page "Kocie Nieszczecia," the dog was returned to its negligent owner.  The animal was found to be in poor health, with inflamed and bleeding scabs on its ears.

Concerned locals

The owner allegedly let the dog roam freely as floodwaters rose, leading to a dangerous situation.

The dog, still in distress, was later seen wandering the streets. Efforts are now underway to reclaim the dog and find it a safer home.

The ongoing floods in Poland continue to endanger both people and animals alike.
