A white, furry dog lay curled up on the grass in her Los Angeles garden, fast asleep.
Concerned, Aly approached the dog, fearing the worst when it didn’t respond.
Weak and exhausted
The dog appeared weak and exhausted, but after Aly provided food and water, the animal ate quickly before falling back asleep.
Aly, who volunteers with Love Leo Rescue, gently placed a leash around the dog and brought her inside. Upon closer inspection, Aly noticed scars on the dog’s body, suggesting it had been used for breeding.
The rescue team believed the dog had been abandoned when her previous owners no longer considered her useful.
Happy ending for Coconut
A trip to the vet revealed that the dog, later named Coconut, was not microchipped and was infested with fleas and tapeworms. After a flea bath and medical care, Coconut began to recover.
Although Aly could not keep her due to her full household, Love Leo Rescue quickly found another home for Coconut.
The rescue video posted on social media touched many, and Coconut has since been adopted into a loving forever home, where she is thriving after a tough start to life.
Coconut couldn’t have picked a better garden to find help.
