A 78-year-old man was left in shock after he was knocked to the ground and his Cane Corso puppy stolen. Thankfully, their story had the best possible ending...

Police in Minneapolis recently appealed for witnesses, after a man was pushed over whilst walking, and his puppy taken away from him.

"If you, or anyone you know recognises these people or knows the location of the puppy, please reach out", they wrote on Facebook.

Kindness of strangers

In the end, it was the new owner of the puppy themselves who decided to reach out, contacting the Minneapolis Police Department to explain what had happened.

Having bought the Corso puppy with no prior knowledge he was stolen, the new owner couldn't believe their eyes when they read that their new four-legged friend was actually a much-loved family pet. As soon as they saw the police appeal, they immediately did the right thing, and took steps to arrange a reunion.

The reunion

"A kind person who purchased the puppy saw the story and contacted MPD to coordinate the return", explained the team in an update. "The kindness of others is always a wonderful response to violence. Check out the smile of the owner when he was reunited with his canine companion".

The caption was posted alongside an adorable photo of the puppy and his human. Now reunited, their remarkable story has the best possible ending.
